Damage will only get worse

Easthorpe Road is not designed to take any volume of "two way" traffic. There are numerous "blind spots" and narrow points with too few "passing places".

Vehicles often meet where the road is too narrow to pass and there are no accessible passing places. This is leading to vehicles either reversing or pulling onto areas of bank or verge, resulting in damage to both the road and the verge and occasionally private property.

The current Highways England proposal will increase the volume of traffic and make an already bad problem even worse. We believe Essex County Council should object to the roundabout and flyover connecting Easthorpe Road to the "de-trunked" A12. It is adding future cost to the council budget (maintaining the roundabout, bridge and road): severe disruption to the village of Easthorpe and is providing no benefit to the local community.
